At Shipping Express LLC, understanding the weight requirements of your container is essential for safe and efficient operation. Every shipping container has three important weight measurements displayed near the doors:
1. Tare Weight
The weight of the empty container (the steel structure only).
This is considered the base weight of the container before any cargo is added.
2. Payload Capacity (Net Weight)
The maximum amount of cargo that the container can safely carry.
This represents the weight of the goods you are allowed to load inside the container.
3. Gross Weight
The maximum total allowable weight, which includes both the container and the cargo combined.
This limit should never be exceeded, as it represents the container’s safety threshold.
✔ Ensures safe transportation and handling
✔ Helps avoid fines or penalties caused by overloading
✔ Assists with proper logistics and loading planning
All of our containers clearly display their official weight ratings, allowing you to load your container with confidence.
If you need help determining the right capacity for your specific project, our team of professionals is always available to assist.
Pro Tip: Before making any structural modifications to a container, always review the weight ratings. Structural changes can affect the container’s integrity and may alter its allowable weight limits.
